Microsoft Corp. is forging a strategic alliance with Harvard University to refine the health-related responses of its Copilot AI assistant. The collaboration, set to begin in late October, will integrate licensed content from Harvard Health Publishing to elevate the accuracy and reliability of medical queries—a clear bid to differentiate its AI offerings from OpenAI's dominance.

The Wall Street Journal reports Microsoft will pay Harvard a licensing fee as part of the deal. Dominic King, Microsoft's VP of health AI, emphasized the company's ambition for Copilot to match the precision of medical professionals—a benchmark he claims current AI tools fail to meet. This move underscores Microsoft's broader pivot toward self-reliance in the competitive AI landscape.
